In the future, thanks to Nobi Nobita, a man who lived in our time, the Nobis are poor and with debts everywhere. So to change that situation and give the future Nobis a better life, Doraemon travels back in time, when Nobita was a kid, and lives with him to teach him how to be a better person, as Nobita is a complete slacker. Doraemon has a fourth-dimensional pocket (or something) from where he can get all sorts of futuristic gadgets to help Nobita and the present Nobis.
