Groups of fans across the globe who have joined to form what are known as fansubbing groups, translate and add subtitles to the weekly episodes and release them to the masses. There are currently two core fansubbing projects on Naruto. Those are TW (Toriyama's World) and the combination of ANBU/AonE (ANBUdom and AnimeOne).

A new group known by it's main member, who goes by SaiyaMan, has just recently appeared on the scene. SaiyaMan lives in Japan, and being a newcomer, his encode quality is noticeably inferior to that of ANBU/AonE and TW encodes. In addition, SaiyaMan's translations are less accurate. Thus, many eager fans are using SaiyaMan's encodes as a means of suppressing their anxiety of the new episodes, and simply replace SM's encode with the hi-quality ANBU/AonE release as it is put out.
