Description: The White-necked Jacobin is a very colorful hummingbird. I saw this species in Trinidad in the Asa Wright Centre (an absolute must for every birdwatcher!!)
This bird is distributed from southern Mexico through Central America to Colombia and the Amazon and Orinoco Basins and it is found mainly below 900 m. It is a bird of forest canopy and borders and is usally seen feeding high up on trees.
The male, seen in this photo, has bright green upperpparts, a blue head and chest, a white crescent on the nape with white on the belly.
