Description: As of now, Naruto remains unlicensed here in the United States. When an anime is licensed in the US, this more or less means that a US-based dubbing company has purchased the rights to said anime. Most dubbing corporations (some examples: ADV, Pioneer, Bandai, FUNimation, etc.), once they have acquired a license to an anime currently being fansubbed, will demand (with threat of legal action, if necessary) that the fansubbing groups cease their subbing projects. This then prevents many thousands of fans from gaining access to their anime for months or even years until the dubbing company is able to dub the series and release DVD's of it here in the US. This is why most anime fans dread the day their favorite anime becomes licensed.
